With your help, we’ve protected 4,206 acres of Bog for future generations!

Yellow-bellied Bog Trail

Named for the Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, which resides in this bog during the summer months, Yellow-bellied Bog contains a unique mix of old growth Aspen and Maple. The trail then works its way out to stunted Black Spruce bog and then to mature Black Spruce forest. In addition to Yellow-bellied Flycatchers, Golden and Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Canada Jay, Ruffed Grouse, Snowshoe Hare, Purple Fringed Orchid, Green Adder’s-mouth Orchid, and Wood Frog all enjoy this habitat. 40 acres of bog were initially purchased with major support from the Minnesota Conservation Partners Legacy Fund in 2012, while 57 additional acres were added in 2014 with donations from our Acres for Owls Land Fund.
