Wood Thrush Woods on the Whiteface River

You might have listened to the Baltimore Oriole’s song at this spot on one of our Warbler Wednesday field trips. These 41 acres are a beautiful example of riverfront floodplain forest which includes some trees not common in the bog including Green Ash, Ironwood, and Bur Oak. It attracts birds that are at the northern edge of their range including Great Crested Flycatcher, Wood Thrush, and Yellow-throated Vireo. This is an incredible spot for spring/summer/fall programing. It is a very unique habitat within Sax-Zim.
