With your help, we’ve protected over 25,000 acres of Bog for future generations!

Snow Returns—Feeders Up

A late October snowfall blanketed about 3 inches of snow up in the Bog…and it has lasted now for several days. We put up a couple sunflower feeders and will soon have the suet and thistle feeders going. By the 3rd week in November we should have a whole new batch of feeders up.

But if you are planning a trip in the near future, remember that early November is deer hunting in NE Minnesota …Let’s leave the Sax-Zim Bog to the hunters. Season ends November 18th so best to plan your trip for after that. But by then many of our winter visitors will have returned including redpolls, White-winged Crossbills, Evening Grosbeaks, and hopefully Northern Hawk Owls and Great Gray Owls. Check out our “Visit Sax-Zim Bog” link to help plan a future visit.
